David’s practice focuses on family law litigation law and municipal law.

BIO:

David was called to the bar in 1991 after graduating from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1989. After articling and spending 1 ½ years practicing in Toronto, David moved to Simcoe County and practiced with a well regarded Orillia firm. David joined Stewart Esten LLP in Barrie in October 2014. David’s preferred area of practice is matrimonial law litigation, arbitration, mediation and as trial Counsel. David also practices in all areas of civil litigation, including corporate/commercial litigation, construction litigation, landlord/tenant litigation, municipal litigation and prosecutions and wrongful dismissal litigation. David was recently trial Counsel for the Children’s Aid Society of the County of Simcoe and is often retained in advance of trials by other Counsel and parties to complete trial matters on their behalf. David has conducted many trials and successful negotiations, mediation, and arbitration.

 

David has appeared at all levels of Court in Ontario from the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal. David has also appeared in front of a number of tribunals in Ontario including the Ontario Municipal Board, Ontario Labour Relations Board and Ministry of Labour prosecutions. David has also been retained by Municipalities to conduct private investigations on their behalf.

 

David has been a volunteer in Orillia for many years. His volunteer commitments include acting on the Board of Directors for the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Green Haven Shelter for Women and Children, the Orillia Minor Hockey Association and the North Simcoe Predators AAA Minor Hockey Association.

 

David is a Member of the Ontario Bar Association, the Orillia Law Association, the Simcoe County Law Association and the Muskoka Law Association. David has been appointed by the Ontario Chief Justice of the Superior Court as a Dispute Resolution Officer and as a member of the Community Liaison and Resource Committee.
