Ardel M. Johnston
Ardel is a “deals lawyer” with a transaction-based practice including the purchase and sale of businesses, commercial lease review, and franchise arrangements, as well as residential real estate (buying, financing and selling a home).
Ardel is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School and gained experience in the financings department of a large Canadian law firm before coming to Barrie in 1990. She was the in-house counsel for a local management and development company prior to joining Stewart Esten Law Firm in 1998.
Ardel plays an active role in the community. She is a past director of the Barrie Chamber of Commerce and was Chair of the Governmental Affairs Committee. She has been instrumental in raising awareness at the provincial and federal level of matters of interest to local businesses and residents in the areas of health care, transportation, and residential tenancies.
Ardel lectures on business law at Georgian College and is a past instructor of the Advanced Real Estate Transactions Course for Law Clerks. She has been a guest lecturer for the Ontario Bar Association in the area of franchises. Ardel is also a contributing author to the textbook “Corporate Law and Procedure”.
In addition to her commercial law practice, Ardel is happy to assist clients with both the process of buying a home and selling one.
